Dorothy May Chastain

Dorothy May (Conrad) Brock Chastain, 90, of Cheyenne, WY, went to be with the Lord on December 29, 2020, at her winter home in Apache Junction, AZ. She was born on May 23, 1930, in Akron, Ohio, to Clarence and Edna (Slough) Conrad. Dottie, as she was known to most, lived in Midland-Odessa, TX, Cheney, KS, and Rogers, AR, prior to her move to Wyoming.

She was preceded in death by her parents; the love of her life, John H. Brock; second husband Sid Chastain; sons-in-law Donn Koster and Richard Ratzlaff; stepson James Chastain; granddaughter Zana Koster; and step-grandsons Donald and Steven Newport.

Dottie leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Connie (John) Newport of AZ, twins Derrel (Simone) Brock of AR, and Sherrell (Mark) Haynes of CO; sister Barbie Short of LA; stepson Steve (Jo) Chastain of AR; grandchildren Sunday (Steve) Beilman, Rona Culler, Stanley (Cari) Koster, Clifton (Yuko) Brock, Nathan (Kristi) Haynes, and Lane Brock; step-grandchildren Valerie (Allen) Gallegos, Hunter (Ashley) Chastain, and Grant Chastain; 9 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; and 3 step great-great grandchildren.

Dottie remained active in her church and community until health limited her activities. Early in life, Dottie helped her husband John run the Cheney Drive-In for many years while they raised their children. She held various other jobs, but most enjoyed her time as a pathology lab technician. Besides being known for procrastinating the discipline of her children until “I get time or feel like it,” she was also inclined to say “poof on it” for anything not worth the trouble. She had a generous heart and loved to play a good game of cards. Dottie was usually up for anything, especially tacos, and had a real verve for life. She equally loved ‘Perry Mason’ and ‘Murder She Wrote’ reruns. Her presence, wisdom, and love will surely be missed. No one will forget her beautiful smile and bright eyes.

She will be privately interred at Haven of Memories Memorial Park in Canton, Texas.
