Elaine was born on April 28, 1938, and grew up in Bellingham, WA, with her sister, Evie.
In 1967, she married Luke Nims, the love of her life for 56 years.
Elaine worked as a checker at a grocery store and later at two boutique apparel stores. She loved being a mother, grandmother, and homemaker. And … she was GREAT at it! She loved doing anything with her husband.
Her laugh was contagious. She could light up a room of any size. She laughed at anyone’s jokes, including her own. She was well-known for her laughter and humorous sayings. Some of her most favorites were: “Mother Bear”, “Oh, my aching phenomenon!”, “Jiminy Christmas”, and “Oh, Kid!” She loved to tell detailed stories, which often included many rabbit trails. All these amazing qualities allowed her to make friends easily and keep long-time friendships.
Elaine adored her Calvary Temple and Spring Creek families. Some of these couples migrated to Arizona with them to be snowbirds for over 25 years, until they made Mesa, Arizona, their permanent residence. Elaine always appreciated a good adventure, but especially so in the mountains four-wheeling on the desert trails.
Elaine was happiest when she had her family around her. She was very supportive and always kept up with her kids’ lives. She was a great cook and brought the family together on holidays, even if that meant over the phone. She always made sure she was the last to say, “I love you” and “Goodbye” to her kids & grandkids before hanging up the phone.
She will always be remembered as elegant, classy, and down to earth. She was an excellent mother, teaching her kids to love and trust the Lord.
Elaine’s legacy lives on in her loving husband, Luke Nims, her children Rhonda Jager and her husband Carl; Greg Wichers and his wife Dori; Gary Nims and his wife Stacy; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sister Evie and her husband Al; as well as many nieces; nephews; and dear friends.
We will always love you, Mom.
Celebration of life will be on November 11, 2023 at Spring Creek Church at 1:00 PM
