Eleanor Josephine Bjornstad

Eleanor J. Bjornstad of Mesa, AZ passed away February 21, 2019 at the age of 95. She was born May 17, 1923 in Grandin, ND to Lewis and Anna [Nash] Thorsrud where she was raised on the family farm. Eleanor was very involved in many Citizens’ groups within Mesa Good Shepherd where she lived. She enjoyed many activities throughout her life including painting landscapes and portraits, making each one of her grandchildren their own portrait. She enjoyed listening to music and she sang with the Sweet Adeline’s for many years. Eleanor was married to Charles Bjornstad on November 25, 1945 and the two started their family raising their four children, in Riverside, CA on five acres, filled with many 4H and FFA projects. She always had a hug at the end of the day. Throughout their lives together, Eleanor and Charles enjoyed trips to Israel, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. Charles passed away on May 26, 2005. Eleanor later met Howard Styles while living at Mesa Good Shepherd and the two were married on July Eleanor and Howard shared great love, respect and companionship until his passing on April 22, 2015. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Charles Wyman Bjornstad, sons, Keith and David; her second husband, Howard Styles; brother, Arnold; sisters, Annette, Margaret and Harriet; and her granddaughter, Sharon. She is survived by her sons, Bryan (Margaret) Bjornstad, Lee (Laurel) Bjornstad and Ray (Joy) Bjornstad; daughter-in-law and wife of the late David Bjornstad, Dana; grandchildren, Bryan Matthew (Julie) Bjornstad, Brent Bjornstad, Eric Bjornstad, Steven Bjornstad, , Bianka (Richard) Nessler, Lauren Balcaceres, Michael (Ashley) Bjornstad , Jacob Bjornstad and Rebecca Bjornstad and great grandchildren, Brody Matthew Bjornstad, Britton Mae Bjornstad, Santiago Balcaceres and Alejandro Balcaceres; half-brothers, Ron and Joel; half-sisters, Diane and Marilyn.
