An angel came and stayed awhile,
Then slipped into the quiet night,
Before she learned to speak or smile
She filled our world with tender light.
Our beautiful, sweet baby girl,
We dreamed of dresses, ribbons, bows,
And watched our entire world unfurl
In hopes of watching how she grows.
Instead, we hold her memory tight,
Our perfect, quiet, sleeping grace,
Who flew into the starry night
Before we got to see her face.
Sleep softly, free from pain,
Enfolded in our endless love,
Until we hold your hand again,
Our little girl in stars above.
