Elizabeth (Dickie) Byrne Hamby was born on April 24, 1922 in Brookhaven, Mississippi, to Mamie Richards Byrne and Claude Franklin Byrne. She passed away on January 22, 2017 in Tempe, AZ. Dickie and her husband Jesse M. Hamby were married 68 years. Together they shared his 32 year Air Force career. Dickie’s love for her family was central in her life. Her best quality of being a wife and mother was her example of kindness and generosity. She served as a Sunday School teacher and a Girl Scout Leader.
She loved her late husband Jesse, her daughter, Jean Suico (Richard), and her Grandchildren; Laura Allen (Warren), Lisa Scheier (Gerald), Chad Suico and great-granddaughter, Jessica June Scheier.
Services were held at Lakeshore Mortuary. Elizabeth's visitation was held on Friday, January 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Lakeshore Mortuary with the funeral services starting at 10:00 am in the Lakeshore Mortuary Chapel.
She was laid to rest at East Resthaven Cemetery, Phoenix on Friday, January 27th at 11:00 a.m.
Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Operation Christmas Child.
