Betty was born on July 6, 1932, in Queens, New York. She attended Queens College, where she earned a degree in education and prepared for a career as a schoolteacher.
At the age of 27, Betty married the love of her life, Donald Kiernan, beginning a beautiful chapter of marriage, family, and shared memories. Together, they raised five children while Betty continued her work in education, balancing her dedication to her profession with the joys and responsibilities of motherhood.
Betty is survived by her five children: Mark (Karen), Patricia (Jim), Stephen (Margaret), Jean, and Maureen (Michael), as well as her seven beloved grandchildren: Mitchell, Kelly, Zoe, John, Tom, Tyler, and Michael.
Betty is also survived by her beloved younger brother, Bill Kehrer.
Betty’s love for her family and the memories she created, which included her passion for world travel, will remain a lasting part of her life. She will be deeply loved and greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Betty’s memory.
