Evelin R. Foster, 78, of Berlin, Germany, passed away on December 9, 2023, in Mesa, Arizona. She was born on September 15, 1945. Evelin never met a stranger due to her genuine friendliness, outgoing spirit and she wouldn’t hesitate to give a hug and helping hand when needed.
Evelin Roswitha Elvira Kosmowski was born in Berlin, Germany where her family owned a bakery in which she spent much time working alongside her beloved grandparents and mother.
She met her husband and soulmate, Mabe, in Berlin while he served in the United States Air Force. Following a whirlwind romance, they married on September 16, 1964. In the years to follow, she would go between Berlin and the United States due to Mabe’s military assignments and became a US citizen in the 1970s. Evelin worked at various travel agencies during those years, eventually landing at Mesa Airlines in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1977. She became an entrepreneur when she and Mabe opened Kosi’s Cards and Gifts in Albuquerque where her outgoing personality flourished and established a plethora of dedicated customers and friendships.
Her dedication and love for her family was apparent to all who met her. When her husband became ill with cancer in 1996, she became his caregiver and staunchest supporter at every doctor appointment and hospital visit. She was most proud of her children, Patricia and Patrick, and wouldn’t let a conversation go by without stating such. She was thrilled to become “Omi” to her for grandchildren: Kennedy, Grant, Alexandria and Angelina and relished in the birth of her great-grandson, Mathias. To her family, she had the biggest heart with more love to offer than the universe could fill and that feeling will live with them forever; her impact upon them immeasurable.
Evelin attended church services at Messiah and Cross of Hope Lutheran Churches in Albuquerque and later at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Goodyear, Arizona.
She loved to shop for bargains and enjoyed spending time sharing a cup of coffee and a slice of cake with her friends. She became of fan of word search puzzles and enjoyed listening to the music from Germany and R&B.
The family has chosen to celebrate Evelin’s life within a private family setting, and therefore, there will be no formal memorial services. Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park in Mesa, Arizona, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Evelin is survived by her loving children, Patricia (Brierre) and Patrick, her grandchildren Kennedy, Grant, Alexandria (Brierre) and Angelina (Brierre), as well as great-grandson Mathias. She is preceded in death by her late husband, Mabe, and her mother, Ingeborg Else Gisela Kosmowski.
Evelin Foster will be remembered for her heart, caring, loving nature and kindness. Her genuine good-hearted spirit and enthusiasm continues to live through her family as well as all those she impacted along her journey in life.
