

Floyd A. Grau of Gilbert, Arizona, passed away on March 1, 2023 in Prescott Valley, Arizona. He was born on July 3rd, 1943 on the family farm in rural Calamus, Iowa to Ralph William and Leona Marie (Fick) Grau. He graduated from Calamus High School and Iowa State University with a degree in electrical engineering and later received his Doctorate in Computer Science from Kennedy-Western University.
Floyd married his high school sweetheart, Connie, in 1963 and while their marriage did not last forever, as a team raised three children. While living in Eagan, Minnesota, he met his second wife, JoAnn Mason. They married in 1981 and he became the stepfather to four additional children.
Floyd and JoAnn moved to Jamestown, Rhode Island, where he worked in the field of Submarine Engineering. While in Rhode Island, Floyd was the proud owner of a 28’ powerboat and loved ocean fishing and boating around Narragansett Bay. He enjoyed traveling cross country in his RV and camping. Floyd also enjoyed watching sports and cheering for his beloved New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox and rooting for his grandchildren and bonus grandchildren at their sporting events. But Floyd was happiest when he was hosting his family and cooking for them.
Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Janet Swearingen, and 3 brothers, Bradley Grau, Les Grau and Kenny Grau. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Grau, brother, Roger (Lucille) Grau, children Scott (Teresa) Grau, Steve (Melinda) Grau, Stacy (Scott) Christianson, stepchildren Lesley (Michael) Sehnert, Dan (Debbie) Mason, Chris (Nancy) Mason, and Nikki (Dan) Hunt, 14 grandchildren and 5 bonus grandchildren.
