FREDDIE “Bimmy ” HOLLINS, JR DOB: August 9, 1953 DOD: June 9, 2019

Freddie Hollins, Jr., lovingly called “Bimmy ”, would say “I was planted in Mississippi, but I was born in Boston” on August 9, 1953. His beautiful soul departed this life on June 9, 2019 leaving behind his devoted, dedicated and loving wife of nineteen years, Cassandra “Sandi” (Upton-Benton) Hollins. His three Children: Forrest Ducane Hollins; De’Von Marquis Upton and Che’Von Mona’ Benton. Seven Grandchildren: Ducane Edward Hollins, LaChe Banks, Devonna Upton, Jahmari Upton, Miles Lamont gredvig-Hollins, Dahja Upton and Rian Hollins.

Bimmy loved our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He enjoyed calling all of his siblings to sing hymnals, often reminiscing about his days as a youth attending church with his Mother Alice Clotille Counsel; his Father Freddie Hollins, Sr.; his brother Curtis Lee Hollins and sister Flora Mae (Hollins) Smart who have preceded him in death. He is survived by four sisters First Lady Delores Gray son (Bishop David W. Gray son-deceased); Mother Darlene Carter (Deacon Horace Carter-deceased); Brenda Rea (Hollins) Williams and Linda Kay Hollins. His honorary sisters Lisa Pickard and Simone Pickard supported his family during any /all adversities and also shared in his wealth of joy .

Bimmy worked in many capacities within various churches, including an ordained Deacon. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era and devoted thirty -five years to Federal Service. Hard working and resilient, Bimmy worked overseas in Saudia Arabia and was an unstoppable force! Brimming with strength and determination he would conquer any endeavor set before him. Additionally , he never swayed from his convictions and loved listening to music of all genres. He brought joy with his old jokes and animated story telling. He loved fishing, “giving instruction” as he would jokingly say and spending time in prayer. He had the roar of a Lion and the heart of a Dove, treating every one he knew kindly . This amazing Man provided for his family without hesitation and would share libation and conversation with loved ones in his “Man Cave”.

Dedicated and honorable, he insisted on giving to charitable causes and remain open for God's next steps for his life. His life touched the lives of many , of whom he would eventually come to call family, such as Bruce Wilson who he named “bruh-in-lawh” and his dedicated caregiver Lydia Rico. These are only a few of the people who brought him joy and laughter during his last days. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory Brothers-in-Law, Cousins, Nephews, Nieces, Sisters-in-Law, family and friends all of whom he loved deeply .

There is much that could be said about the man who changed our lives, but plainly spoken, he was an emotional and dedicated Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle and friend who will be greatly missed.

There isn’t a soul on this earth that compares to my Grandpa. Nobody can take his place and there will always be an emptiness without his presence. I love you and miss you so much. - Lil Suga <3
