described himself after doing commercials in Tokyo) a “star of major magnitude,” passed
away peacefully on September 10th at his home in Mesa AZ due to complications from
gastric cancer. He was born in Aschaffenburg, Germany to the late Angelo Luigi
(Louis) and Maddalena Bierti Mazzoli. He also resided in Italy, New York, Virginia,
Japan, and Arizona.
He is survived by his devoted partner and wife of 36 years Amy Deegan; his
loving brother Mario Mazzoli; and three very close sisters-in law: Carolyn Graff
Mazzoli, Janet Deegan Knab, and Maureen Deegan Roberts; a close friend and
brother-in-law, L. Adrian Roberts; and wonderful relatives in Italy.
George will be remembered for his great intelligence, excellent sense of humor,
and wonderful culinary skills. His lack of political correctness was only outdone by his
generosity and kindness to all. There will be no formal services; his ashes will scattered
over the Sonoran Desert that he loved so much. He disagreed with the adage “time is
money” saying instead “you can always make up lost money but you can never make
up for lost time.” With this in mind, if you wish to do something in his memory, a perfect
way would be to do a random act of kindness for someone you don’t know and while
doing so say to yourself, “this one’s for you George”.
