George Earl Richardson Jr., 77, died on April 19, 2014. He was a native Phoenician who was born there May 12, 1936. Richardson attended Madison School No. 1 and graduated from North Phoenix High School. He served two years in the United States Navy, stationed in Yokohama, Japan. After his naval service, Richardson earned a bachelor’s degree in business at the University of Arizona. Richardson worked in the family business, HBA Life Insurance, for several years then began a career as a restaurant developer in Arizona and California. He owned the first ever volleyball bar in Arizona called the Monastery and operated the well-known Fred’s restaurant in Sausalito, California. His hobbies included flying antique airplanes and racing stock cars. He will be remembered for his sense of adventure and generous spirit. He is survived by his sons, George Earl Richardson III, Randolph Trevor Richardson and two grandchildren, Morgan and Trevor.
