

Gerald (Gerry) Scott Batt, 67, Beloved Husband, Father, Grandpa and Friend, passed away on August 26, 2010 at his home in Mesa, Arizona. Surrounded by his family, Dad left this world after a long and valiant battle to regain his health, following a debilitating stroke in September 2009. Dad was born in Cedar City, Utah on August 15, 1943. He married Christine (Tina) Cox in 1966 and graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1969. They moved to the Phoenix Metropolitan area in 1969 where he worked for Motorola for 30 years. They have resided in Mesa for over 40 years. Dad was a vibrant and gregarious man who was known for his generous manner, easy laugh, quick wit and strong business sense. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, taking special joy in his seven grandchildren. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed to golf, hunt, ski, scuba dive and spend time in the mountains surrounding Southern Utah. Dad will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his father Scott, wife Tina, daughters Ginni (Alfred) Hernandez of Avondale, AZ. Jo Anna Batt of Cedar City, UT. Lynette (Ken) Ramsey of Clermont FL., brother David (Marilyn) Batt, Sister Barbara (Karnell) Perry, his seven grandchildren, and numerous lifelong friends. He is preceeded in death by his mother Alice Batt. Funeral Services will take place at Lakeshore Mortuary, 1815 S. Dobson Road, Mesa, AZ. Viewing will be Monday August 30 from 6 – 8:00 pm, with services being held on August 31, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in honor of Gerry Batt to Caring Bridge (caringbridge.org) or Hospice of the Valley (hov.org).
