It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Gloria Dale Johnson, who died August 16, 2025, in Gilbert, Arizona, at the age of 92. Born on September 23,1932, in Rockford, Illinois, Gloria was the daughter of the late Evelyn and George "Spike" Swenson. Gloria is now reunited with her husband of 51 years Roger Johnson, who died in 2001.
Gloria lived in Rockford for 55 years before moving to Arizona in 1987, where she embraced a new sunnier lifestyle with Roger. In her final chapter of life, she enjoyed the last couple of years at The Watermark at Morrison Ranch, where she was known for her cheerful nature and friendly presence.
Gloria will long be remembered for her lively personality and flair for style, which included a love for dressing up, wearing big red hats, and coloring her hair in fun, vibrant hues. Gloria also had a deep affection for animals of all kinds, enjoying three "woman's best friend" dogs over the years, Sandy, Sandy, and Brandy and most recently her four cherished cats, KoKo, Zoie, Katie, and one-eyed Willy.
Gloria will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her. Gloria's legacy lives on through her family. She is survived by her three children, Terri Kingsley and her husband Ted, Vicki Simms, and Steve Johnson and his wife Kathy. She was a proud grandmother to David, Misty, Annie (Kevin), Andy (Mariah), Casey, Jessica (Billy), Jenny, and Corey (Rebecca). Great-Grandchildren, Beth, Brittany, Kyle, Taylor, Nathaneal, Kayla, Lance, Hannah, Sarah, Emilia, Jozie, Desmond, and Avery. Great-Great-Grandchildren Trey, Drew, and Lyla.
Gloria's departure was not one of sadness, but of quiet grace surrounded by the love of her family, sharing stories, laughter, and a few final, cherished moments. She passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and humor. While we mourn her physical absence, we find comfort in knowing that her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to share in her endless love.
