

Gordon Wahlberg passed away of natural causes at his home in Mesa, Arizona. He was born in Kingsburg, California to Paul and Mary Wahlberg and then moved to Pomona California. He enlisted into the U.S. Navy on August 13, 1943 and served aboard LST 610 in the Pacific Theater. After the war and using the G.I. Bill,, he earned a B.S. degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on Foreign Trade and Transportation. He worked for American President Steamship Lines and P and O Orient Steamship Co. in their offices and on their cruise ships around the world. Part time he studied for a master’s degree in education, and began teaching middle school in Upstate New York. After retiring in 1985, he lived in Pinn Valley, CA and was active in Masonic Lodge Nevada 13. He was a Past Master and a member of the Shrine, York Rite, Scottish Rite and Order of the Eastern Star. He had two sisters; Fern Puron (deceased), Janet (Duane) Simpson, 3 nephews; Jose Puron, David (Kelly) and Steven (Edna) Simpsonand his loving friend Phyllis Stanton. A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, Oct. 14 at Fellowship Square, Mesa, AZ at 2:00 pm.
