

Harold G. Mitchell passed away on July 20, 2011, in Mesa, Arizona. Born in Oswego, New York, to Alfred and Elsie (nee Schroder) Mitchell, Harold arrived on August 16, 1926. Harold served honorably in the United States military for 22 years. In the Navy during WWII he served in both the Mediterranean, Pacific, and later as a sergeant in the Army. His tours of duty included 12 years in Germany, and a year each in Iran and Korea. After retiring, he resided in Santa Barbara, California where he worked for the County Correctional Facilities. Harold returned to Oswego, New York in 1971 and was employed by Alcan Aluminum Corporation for 17 years. In recent years he resided with his wife, Beverly, in Central Square, New York and Mesa, Arizona. Harold was a Mason, a member of Eastern Star, and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Mitchell, children, Tomy (Lorna), Bill (Jamie), and Susan Ramsay, stepchildren, Cheryl (Ronald) Lindsay, Betty Day, and adopted daughter, Shelly (Mike) Sova, 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, sister, Alma (Joseph) Castaldo, brother Joseph (Jean) Mitchell and many nieces and nephews. Harold is preceded in death by his parents, brother, William Mitchell, and sister, Wanda Gorman. A memorial service to honor Harold will be held Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Central Square, New York.
