

Hattie Mae Watts-McNeal was the daughter of Hattie Lou Watts and Dave Hicks. Hattie Mae was born in Selma, Alabama, the youngest of three children, in the summer of 1946. She graduated from Selma High School and was briefly married to Martin Pressley, with whom she had her first son, Michael Anthony. In 1967, she was remarried to Air Force Master Sergeant Jimmy Lewis McNeal in Selma and had two sons together (Jimmy Lewis and Jeremy McNeal). Upon moving to Arizona in 1977, Hattie Mae helped support her family by working in various occupations, including holding employment in the booming technology industry at Motorola in the 1980s, working in the area of elderly health care and managing her own small business from the 1990s up until her passing. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Hattie Lou and David and her brother David Sawyer Watts. She is survived by her brother Herman Watts, her sons Michael Pressley, Jimmy Lewis McNeal and Dr. Jeremy Leon McNeal, six grandchildren (Lauren Pressley, Marcus Wilkins & Tekai McNeal, Jamar Jackson, Dominique Jackson & Nathan Pressley), seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
