January 15, 1944 – August 26, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Hector Marin, 82, of Tempe, Arizona, who left this world on August 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of the family he cherished so deeply. Hector was born on January 15, 1944, to Froilan B. Marin and Otila Marin in Morenci, Arizona, a place that always remained close to his heart, and a proud mining community whose roots stayed with him his entire life.
For 34 years, Hector poured his energy and integrity into his career at Salt River Project (SRP), earning the respect of colleagues and building a legacy defined by dependability and quiet dedication but it was outside of work where Hector's spirit truly came alive. His cabin in Pinetop was more than a getaway — it was his sanctuary, a place where the pines and cool mountain air offered peace and renewal. He carried a camera everywhere he went, always chasing the next beautiful view or candid moment worth remembering, and his love of travel took him to see as much of the world as he could. He took great pride in staying active, and there was nothing he loved more than gathering with his lifelong friends from Morenci and Clifton — his beloved Los Vatos — swapping stories that stretched back decades. On weekends, he could be found cheering passionately for the Sun Devils, the D-Backs, and the Cardinals, his loyalty to his teams as steady as his loyalty to the people he loved.
Above all, Hector's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his sister, Carolyn, and brother-in-law, Jaime, who held a special place in his heart; his nephews Tony and his wife Sarah, and Angel and his wife ReAnna; his great-nephew Anthony; and his great-nieces ElleAnna and Victoria — each of them a source of immense pride and love that Hector never hesitated to share. He was preceded in death by his sister, Irene Gamez, whom he missed dearly and is now reunited with.
Hector's warmth, his easy laughter, and his love for the people and places closest to him leave behind a legacy that will not be forgotten. He will be remembered as a devoted family member, a loyal friend, and a man who found beauty in the everyday moments life gave him.
Services to honor and celebrate Hector's life will be held on September 3, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. at Lakeshore Mortuary, followed by interment at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Cemetery.
Hector will be deeply, dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love him. May he rest in peace.
