Oh Nickie I will miss you. I just found you after losing track of you for a while. You were a great friend and mentor. I’m glad I got to see you once more and had hoped to see you again when I returned from vacation. I remember driving you to throw the first pitches at so many games! I got the honor of holding your purse & jacket while you talked and signed autographs. I got the honor of being your friend and playing a few rounds of golf together. I thank you so much for coming to my daughters softball team party and talking to the little girls about softball. They still remember that. You gave them all a signed baseball card. So many wonderful memories. I’ll miss you…..

I did not know Helen, but would like to express my gratitude to her for paving the way for women in professional sports. When I taught fourth grade, every year I would teach about the AAGPBL during our unit on WWII, and it was always a fan favorite. My students were motivated, encouraged, and inspired by the stories of women just like Helen. May she rest in the sweetest peace.
