Helen was a wonderful friend whose presence at our Velda Rose Book Club was always stimulating. She shared the most remarkable experiences with the group and was totally prepared for the discussion. She was a great friend, confidant, and a wonderful person. Although I moved from Arizona 3 years ago, Helen is someone I will never forget. She was kind, considerate, warm, gracious, and very organized! I treasure the 16 years of our relationship at Velda Rose through UMW, Book Club, rummage sale, and church. She was a great role model and a true friend. She will be greatly missed and forever loved

I will miss my dearest friend, Helen. She was always there to help those in need, whether it be for support or for food. She was a very good cook. One thing that stands out for me is when my husband was hospitalized for lung cancer surgery. I did not answer her calls, so she contacted my son, Patrick, and asked him to stop over. She had baked some delicious hot foods for me --knowing that I was not eating. Just the smell of the food in the large brown bag was overwhelming. She has been a true Mayo Clinic co-worker friend for over 53 years. She and Ward were blessed with 3 wonderful and caring daughters, Barbara, Sue and Terri and granddaughter, Kristin.

Helen was good friends with my grandmother, Catherine (Kay) Welty. And she was always very sweet with me growing up. I'll miss her always .

It is with sadness that I heard of Helen’s passing. Our families were neighbors, church members and friends for many years. I will keep Susan, Terry and the whole family in my prayers.

Sincerely, Chuck Berkins
