Hulen Dale Copeland Jr, 63, of Mesa, Arizona passed away, October 30, 2020. He was born July 14, 1957 in Puerto Rico to Hulen Dale Copeland Sr. and Luz Selenia Colon. Hulen graduated from Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado and was part of the first class the first year they opened. Following high school, he joined the U.S. Army, where he worked various positions from Signal Channel Radio Operator to food service. He was awarded the Good Conduct medal and retired at the rank of Major after 29 and a half years. While in the military, he was most recently stationed in Afghanistan where he was in charge of a group of 5000 soldiers, he always made sure to leave no one behind. Hulen was married to his first wife, Toni McBroom and they had two children, Mason and Will and would later divorce, but remained good friends. Many years later, on September 24, 2016, he was married to Carol Duncan and they spent the last four years together until his passing. Hulen loved life, his family and his church, he attended Beth Emanuel Messianic Church in Chandler, Arizona where he played bass guitar. He also enjoyed playing Minecraft to help him relax, he was a kid at heart. Hulen is survived by his loving wife, Carol Copeland-Duncan; his sons, Mason and Will; his ex-wife and mother of his children, Toni McBroom; his father, Hulen Sr; brothers, Emery, Greg, and Dell and his sisters, Lisa and Suzy. He was preceded in death by his mother, Luz. Hulen will be laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix. Arrangements entrusted to Mariposa Gardens Funeral Care (480) 830-4422
