Ilona Ann Parker
September 15, 1933 – January 23, 2022
Ilona Ann Parker, 88, of Phoenix, Arizona, and formerly of Massena, New York, passed away on January 23, 2022 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Ilona was born on September 15, 1933 to William and Elizabeth Blasco in Fayetteville, New York. After graduating from Central High School, she went on to pursue her Bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Syracuse University, teaching in the Liverpool school system both before and during her marriage. Soon after graduating, Ilona met Carl Parker at a dance, and a courtship ensued. They wed on July 2, 1960, going on to have 3 children, Lynne Elizabeth, Wendy Rose, and Laura Jo. Shortly after Laura was born, Ilona began studying the Bible, and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on February 17, 1974. Ilona loved to spend her time volunteering to study the Bible with her neighbors. She worked diligently to train and instruct her children. She made sure each of her daughters had the opportunity to learn how to ice skate, folk dance, downhill ski, and play a musical instrument, as she enjoyed these activities herself. She loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. She also was a natural food enthusiast and worked hard to provide nutritious meals for her family. Ilona was predeceased by her loving husband of 32 years in July 1992, and her daughter, Wendy Parker Price of Castle Pines, Colorado in July 2021. She is survived by her daughters, Lynne Parker-Taciak of Los Angeles, California and Laura McCallum of Phoenix, Arizona. She is also survived by two grandsons, Aidan and Lachlan Snelling of Denver, Colorado.
