Ione Josephine Klima

She was born in Minneapolis on May 26, 1942. Ione graduated from Robbinsdale High School and received a Bachelor's from the University of Minnesota.

She was married to Mark Pratt in April and May 1990 (funny story) in St-Paul Minnesota. She married Robert Geis in 1964 and was divorced in 1979.

Ione worked in civil service for the State of Minnesota. She was a member of AAUW, and had a passion for puzzles and games. She loved languages, reading, writing, and teaching multiple languages. She loved traveling by motorcycle, car, and canoe to see beautiful parts of the country. She was a deeply nurturing person who took in strays - dog, cat, or human, becoming a surrogate parent and grandparent to children, helping anyone she felt needed support. She poured herself into her daughters and considered raising twins to be her life's great accomplishment.

She was survived by her husband, Mark Pratt; daughters Jessica Grofman (Neal Grofman) and Sonya Geis (Eugene Maddaus); stepdaughters Jennifer Larson (Josh Larson) and Lysa Holmstrom (Jason Holmstrom); stepson Mike Pratt (Amanda Pratt); Eleven grandchildren and stepgrandchildren; and her brother Duane Klima.
