It is with deep sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of Jane Ellen Guy (nee Farrell), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend to so many. Anyone that had the pleasure of meeting Jane felt her warmth, kind soul, and passion for people. All who knew her well, knew there was no greater love than the one she had for her family, especially her grandchildren.
Jane was born on November 24, 1945, in Toms River, NJ, to James C. Farrell and Elenore J. Farrell (nee Stewart). She was a graduate of the Academy of the Holy Angels in Demarest, NJ. She earned her nursing license at St. Peter’s, in New Brunswick, NJ. In 1966, shortly after the death of her mother, Jane’s friends convinced her to go to a dance at the Cresthaven Country Club, in Whitestone, NY, where she met the love of her life, her husband, Thomas Guy. They married on September 30, 1967, and enjoyed more than 56 happy and wonderful years devoted to each other. They spent over two decades raising their family in Leonia, NJ before moving to Arizona, where they have resided for the past 33 years.
Jane’s caring nature and compassion for others made nursing the perfect career for her. Throughout her 40+ years career as an LPN, Jane worked in areas of nursing that included, Dermatology at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in NYC, NY, and Geriatrics in multiple long term care facilities throughout NJ and AZ. Jane dedicated the last decade of her career working at Westchester Care Center in Tempe, AZ, where she cared for patients with Alzheimer’s and counseled the families of loved ones battling the disease.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, James and Elenore Farrell and her grandson, Alex.
Jane is survived by her husband Tom Guy, daughter Sheila Yammer and husband Billy, daughter Heather Costa and husband Anthony, and her son, Thomas “TJ” Guy and wife Simone. She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Danielle, Frank, Anthony Jr., Elena, Vinnie, Mia, Katelyn, Hayden, Thomas “Tommy” III, and Lucas and one great-grandchild: Logan.
