Married to Robert D. Snyder on May 3, 1945, during World War II in San Francisco, California, while he was serving his country in the Army Air Corps. They remained in California where both of their children were born, until 1957, when they returned to North Canton, Ohio. After their work careers were over, they retired to Arizona in 1983, to enjoy their time with her brother and his wife.
Jayne and Bob were devoted to each other in a way seldom seen until he passed away in 1984, after his battle with cancer. A light went out of her life at that time that was never to be replaced. She carried on and lived independently until last Christmas.
Jayne was blessed with 2 children, 5 grand children, 9 great grand children and 2 great-great grand children and numerous "adopted" children who called the Snyder residence home.
Employment: Jayne worked as a bookkeeper for a Pontiac Automobile dealer in California, until she became pregnant with her first child, daughter Denise. After the family relocated back to Ohio, Jayne initially worked as a part time bookkeeper at Citizen's Bank and later as a photo lab technician for Waltz Camera until her son, Gary, had completed college. Her work schedule allowed her to see the children off to school in the morning and be home when they returned in the afternoon. Jayne was always a full time mother and homemaker. Jayne went back to work full time as a photo lab technician for Dalzell, Inc, at age 62 until she finally retired 20 years later.
Jayne's main interest has always been her home and family. Every night was "family dinner night". She loved cooking and baking and a few of her specialities were spagetti sauce, homemade noodes, custard pie, and red velvet cake long before red velvet cake was "in". Jayne and Bob were avid Square Dancers while they resided in Ohio. She enjoyed reading whenever she didn't have a crossword puzzle to solve and never turned down a challenging card game whenever presented. Jayne loved to dress fashionably and delighted in shopping trips as long as she could get around. She was an avid fan of the local sports teams and enjoyed watching her teams on television or listening to the action on the radio.
