

Jeanne was the 2nd of three daughters born to Orlan and Ethel (Wolf) Tetzlaff, and was raised on their family farm one mile south of Thomas, SD. In 1953 Jeanne graduated as co-valedictorian from Thomas High School, and then completed her secretarial education in Sioux Falls, SD. After marriage, Jeanne resided in Heidelberg, Germany, Grover, SD, Albuquerque, NM, Sioux Falls, SD and Inglewood, CA. Jeanne began her career at the Defense Atomic Support Agency, Sandia Base, in Albuquerque, NM. Upon returning to Sioux Falls, SD in 1967, she began working as a budget clerk for the federal government at the Military Entrance and Processing Station. After a 26 year career, with numerous awards and commendations, she retired from her last job at the Air Force Space & Missile Systems Center in Los Angeles AFB, CA.
Jeanne married Blaine Kornmann on April 1,1989. Together they enjoyed their retirement with homes in Long Beach, WA and Mesa, AZ, traveling to see many state and national parks, visiting friends and family along the way. Jeanne enjoyed, water aerobics with friends, yoga, flowers, and was the best cookie baker.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of 36 years, Blaine Kornmann.
Grateful to call her Mom are her 4 children, Mark (Rose) Barker, Hermosa SD, Jaclyn Parsons, Nemo, SD, Judy (Brek) Benson, Saint Simons Island, GA, and Marlan Barker (Trish Padilla), Edgewood, NM. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren, as well as numerous great and great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Jeanne is also survived by her sister, Joyce Battern, Alexandria, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Orlan and Ethel Tetzlaff, sister, JoAnn Mischke and nephew, Joel Lee.
Visitation will be held at the Hayti Lutheran Church, Hayti, SD on October 16, 2025 in the Fireside room from 5:00-7:00 PM. Service will be on October 17, 2025 at 10:30AM at the Hayti Lutheran Church, Hayti, SD.
