The dust has settled into a well lived life & heaven gained a cowboy.
Jerry Siegenthaler, affectionately known as “Poppy,” passed away on April 17, 2026. Born in Oklahoma on the family farm, and a 1957 graduate of Morris High School, Jerry’s journey took him from the U.S. Army at Ft. Myers to a prolific 50-year career as a civil engineer and superintendent. He possessed a true passion for "churning the earth," leaving a legacy across Arizona and California through the roads, highways, and golf courses that he helped build.
Beyond his professional pride as an "honorary workaholic," Jerry was a man of diverse spirits:
At one point, moving to Payson Arizona for work, he became a part of the US Junior Chamber of Commerce (JC) and was active in the Rodeo where he participated in Saddle Bronc Riding, Steer Wrestling, & Calf Roping.
In 1967, he married his one great true love, Mary Frances “Frankie” Katzureck, at Mt. Carmel Parish in Tempe—a union that began with a blind date and grew into a lifetime of road trips and shared adventures.
In his later years, Jerry’s days were brightened by long walks, naps on the patio, lots of family time living with his daughter, son-in-law, grandkids and pet dogs Kona and Moose. Also, by the steadfast best friendship of Dave Krueziger & outdoor chats with his fellow neighbors. He remains a cherished figure to his daughter, Stacie Postovit (Marc); his grandsons, Peyton and Zane Postovit; and Robert Postovit & Family. He is survived by his siblings, Patsy Vaughn & Family and Larry Siegenthaler (Muriel & Family), along with the extended Siegenthaler, Amador, McKeen, Mendenhall, Rumfield, Katzureck, Barger, Whitaker, Dudley, and Howell families, as well as the original Ahwatukee cul-de-sac crew.
The family extends profound gratitude to Heart of Healing Hospice, Chaplin Jeff Caupp, DCN Dennis Lambert, Corpus Christi Church, Knights of Columbus, Dr. Claflin, the Healthy U team for their amazing strength and support throughout the past few years. We will always cherish the love from our incredible friend groups, immediate family, Chandler HS, Troop 88, & City of Morris for their outpour of love to our “Postovit Circus” as we navigate the ocean of grief.
