

Joan Johnell Satterlee, age 71, passed away at her home in Mesa, AZ on May 29, 2022. Joan was born on September 20, 1950 in Winfield, Kansas to Johnnie Oliver Satterlee and Clara Mae (Parker) Satterlee.
Joan attended Mesa Community College studying Physical Education. She later worked as a Project Manager at Repel Steel as a detail specialist for roadways in Arizona. She then worked at TRW manufacturing air bags for automobiles. Furthermore, as a member of Church of the Master, Joan also worked as an Administrative Assistant.
Joan greatly enjoyed softball. She coached the co-ed softball team at the church. She had a dream to attend the NCAA Softball Championship in Oklahoma City.
Her daughter, Lori was the focus of her life. She also had three grandchildren, Chad Spangler Jr., Tyler Spangler and Carissa Spangler, whom she was dedicated to supporting and encouraging throughout their various interests.
Family was important to Joan. Several family members lived with her over the years. Whether it was returning from being overseas, launching their college career or other transitions in their lives, Joan made sure they had a place to stay, a roof over their heads.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, John and Clara Satterlee, her sister-in-law Esther Satterlee and her nephew, Steven Satterlee.
She is survived by her daughter, Lori Spangler, of the home, her siblings, Clara “Sue” Webber (Apache Junction, AZ), Donald Satterlee (Mesa, AZ), Barbara Hill (Payson, AZ) and her husband, Frank, and Charlotte Lynn “Pete” Nichols (Arkansas City, KS), her grandchildren, Chad Spangler Jr. and his wife Cidney, Tyler Spangler and Carissa Spangler and many nieces and nephews.
