

Joann Finot Rees (nee Ruth Joann Finot) of Tempe, AZ and Elkhart, IN, passed away at the age of 84 in Tempe, AZ on April 21, 2013 after a short illness. She was born in St. Louis, MO on April 22, 1928 to Ruth Ester Hall and Phillip H. Finot.
She is survived by her sister Margot, son Phil (Tina), and her granddaughters Alexandra and Katie. She is preceded in death by her son Malcom, her husband James, and both her parents.
Joann attended the University of Indiana until her marriage at age 19. Joann was passionate about art, but especially about theater. She acted in a number of plays in Indianapolis and later in Elkhart, IN at the Bristol Opera House. Joann was also an avid seamstress, becoming a quilter later in life. She was also an accomplished bridge player who played doubles bridge, elimination bridge and progressive bridge until just a few months before her passing. Joann travelled the world with her husband James, travelling to over 36 different countries and every continent in the world. She spent the final years of her life at Friendship Village enjoying the company of new friends as she indulged her passions for bridge, theater and art.
