

John William “Bill” Blasi of Mesa, Arizona passed away on January 30, 2015 at the age of 88. He was born April 15, 1926 in New York City, NY to John William and Mary [O’Donnell] Blasi. John proudly served his country during WWII and the Korean War in the U.S. Navy. Following his military service, John went on to work with the U.S. Post Office for 10 years and then as a police officer with the NYPD for 20 years, until retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents and on January 27, 2011, by his beloved wife Joan [Palmieri] Blasi. John is survived by his son, Frank (Linda) Blasi; daughters Joan (Stephen) Swift, Veronica (Al) Edwards and Barbara (Bob) McFarland; his sister Patricia Blasi; grandchildren Brandon (Monica) Blasi and R.J. Blasi, Michael (Miriam), Matthew (Erica Strathmann) and David (Jeana) Norton and Candice (Demetri) Verikokkos and Erika Swift; great grandchildren Adaly, Michael, Jett and Emma Norton, Abigail, Benjamin and Olivia Verikokkos, and Kristopher and Jacob Blasi; three step-great grandchildren Jordan, Jaylan and Journee; and two soon to be twin boys, Matthew and Lukas. Funeral mass to be held at St. George's Catholic Church Friday, February 6th, 10:00am 300 E. 16th Ave. Apache Junction.
