John Joseph Mueller

Ryan was born on February 28, 1970, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Linda Mueller and Ron Pushcar. He was later lovingly adopted by Jim Mueller, whose guidance and care helped shape the man Ryan would become. Growing up as a latchkey kid, Ryan developed an independent spirit, quiet resilience, practical wisdom, and a steadfast determination that carried him through every chapter of his life.

From an early age, Ryan possessed an insatiable curiosity. He delighted in understanding how things worked, especially computers and technology, passions that would later define his remarkable career. He also found joy in life's simple pleasures—fishing, golfing, time spent at the shooting range, playing guitar, and listening to music, particularly classic rock. Though he was unable to fulfill his dream of serving in the military alongside his father, brother, cousin, and father-in-law, his deep love for American history and unwavering patriotism never faltered. He held profound respect for those who served and remained a devoted supporter of America's veterans.

Ryan believed deeply in the power of lifelong learning. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Bellevue University, followed by a Master of Arts in Organizational Management and a Master of Business Administration in Technology Management from the University of Phoenix. He further enriched his education with two graduate certificates from the University of Phoenix and achieved his Six Sigma Green Belt certification from Villanova University.

On October 11, 1991, Ryan met the love of his life, Rachel. What began as a simple first date blossomed into a beautiful partnership that spanned more than three decades. They were married on February 2, 2002, and together built a life rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering devotion through every season.

Ryan's professional journey began in 1998 as a Technical Support Representative with America Online. Through dedication, intelligence, and an unrelenting drive to grow, he rose through the ranks, ultimately serving as Vice President, Claims Workforce Analytics & Initiative Data Science and Analysis for CHUBB. He was deeply respected by colleagues for his integrity, leadership, sharp analytical mind, and his genuine willingness to mentor and uplift others.

Above all, Ryan cherished his family and friends. Whether sharing stories, celebrating holidays, enjoying a favorite rock song, discussing history, or simply being present, he had a remarkable gift for making others feel seen, valued, and loved. Though his long battle with cancer gradually limited many of the activities he once enjoyed—including sharing a Guinness with dear friends—his strength, humor, faith, and love never wavered.

Ryan is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Rachel Mueller; his children, Justin Mueller, Raina Mueller, and Throy Mueller; his adoptive father, Jim Mueller and his wife, Suzanne; his father, Ron Pushcar and his wife, Anne; his siblings, Richard Mueller, Joseph Mueller, and Amelia Pushcar; along with many extended family members, cherished friends, and colleagues whose lives were forever enriched by knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Linda Mueller.

Ryan will be remembered for his brilliant mind, quiet strength, unwavering love for his family, generosity, sense of humor, and his lifelong commitment to learning. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched through his kindness, mentorship, friendship, and love.

He loved history and never missed celebrating the Fourth of July, his favorite holiday—a day that reflected both his passion for our nation's story and his deep love of country. He enjoyed sharing a Guinness with good friends, listening to classic rock, and creating memories with the people he loved most. Ryan believed life's greatest success was never measured by titles or accomplishments, but by the family he cherished, the friendships he nurtured, and the lives he touched. Though cancer claimed his body, it never conquered his spirit.

Following Ryan's wishes, his Celebration of Life will be a casual gathering. Anyone who knew Ryan knows he was never one for dressing up, and he would much rather see everyone comfortable than in formal attire. Casual clothing—including T-shirts, shorts, jeans, and comfortable shoes—is warmly encouraged.

In honor of Ryan's favorite holiday, Independence Day, Rachel and the family invite those attending to wear red, white, and/or blue as a joyful tribute to his deep love of American history, his patriotism, and the Fourth of July celebration he cherished each year.

The family welcomes flowers, cards, and written memories celebrating Ryan's life. For those who wish to honor him through a charitable gift, memorial donations may be made to DAV (Disabled American Veterans) or another veteran's organization of your choice, reflecting Ryan's lifelong admiration and support for those who served our nation.
