Joseph William Listowich Jr., 75, was born on May 28, 1945 and died on August 31, 2020 in Mesa, AZ after a years' long battle with multiple myeloma and cardiac amyloidosis. Joe was born in Holden, MA to Joseph and Eleanor (Bentley) Listowich, grew up and lived on Wyndhaven Fruit Farm in Sterling MA until 2005. He owned and ran Wyndhaven Agway in Sterling for over 30 years.
Joe was predeceased by wife Judy Ann (Bateman) Listowich of Holden MA on August 11, 2001. He is survived by wife Andrea (Lawton) Listowich, his two adult children, Jill Kristine (Listowich) Howe and Mark William Listowich, their spouse's Doug Howe and Elizabeth (Libby) Listowich and two granddaughters, Willamina and Juniper Listowich.
Joe and Judy were avid snow skiers, so much so that Joe built a small rope tow in the family "backyard" which consisted of a peach orchard on a good hill. His children learned to ski right in the back yard. To help support the family's love for skiing and ski racing, Joe was actively involved with the Wachusett Mountain Ski Racing program, as well as a member of the Wachusett Mountain Ski Patrol for over 20 years. Joe had a green thumb and could grow just about anything, cucumbers being his favorite. He started golfing in the 1990's and boasted that he was playing some of his best games as late as June 2020.
After losing Judy at just 56, Joe was introduced to Andrea Lawton via old high school friends in Sterling. They hit it off instantly sharing many similar interests and spent the past 17 years together completing quite a "bucket list" of activities. They lived for a short time in Sterling MA, then Jacksonville Beach FL, and finally in Mesa AZ. They played golf in all 50 states, plus Mexico and 3 provinces in Canada. They traveled to 49 states in their motor home crossing the country 13 times and followed the Mississippi from its headwaters in Itasca National Park, MN to its delta in Louisiana. They reside(d) in Leisure World in Mesa, AZ for the past 12 years, where Joe was an avid golfer, member of Coyote Run men's club, past Chairman of District 4, and past President of the Board of Directors.
Per Joe's wishes no formal service will be held. He would like donations to be made on his behalf to First Tee, 425 S. Legacy Trail, St. Augustine, FL 32092. First Tee is an international youth development organization introducing the game of golf and its inherent values to young people.
