Keenan Ronald Strand, age 64, of Mesa, AZ, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on July 1, 2024. He was born in Berwyn, Illinois on March 14, 1960, and graduated from Romeoville High School in 1978. He was married to Cynthia Laurie Strand, nee, Kuffner on October 10, 1981, in Naperville, Illinois. Keenan was a hardworking, dedicated, and driven entrepreneur. He began his career in business at 12 years old with a paper route, before starting a career with McDonalds at 15 years old. Keenan quickly worked his way to store manager at 20 years old and became a McDonalds franchise owner at 40 years old. Keenan had a passion for real estate from a young age, buying his first home at 20 years old to eventually owning 19 properties. Keenan was actively involved in serving his community. He was the co-founder and President of the North Phoenix Neighborhood Action Alliance and was recently awarded the 2024 Community Hero Award. He served on the Emelita Homeowners Association Board and the President’s Community Advisory Council for the Paradise Valley Community College. Furthermore, Keenan was a well-respected mentor, sharing his knowledge, experience and advice with many. In addition to his impactful career, Keenan had a love for adventure and the outdoors. From organizing many camping trips, Grand Canyon hiking adventures, riding his motorcycle, or spending time at the cabin, Keenan truly lived life to the fullest. Despite his busy schedule, family always came first. He was always there for every concert, sport or school event. He was predeceased by his father Ronald and brother Gregory. Keenan is survived by his wife Cynthia; his four children Rebecca (Jon), David (Jessica), Jeffrey (Sandra), and Jennifer (Austin); his 8 grandchildren Brody, James, Jacob, Jaxon, William, Emily, Brynn and Madilyn; mother, Joyce; his 4 remaining siblings Tamra (Michael), Laura (Joseph), Christopher (Tracy), Mark (Bernadette); 17 nieces and nephews and12 great nieces and nephews. The family was supported by the care and kindness of Hospice of the Valley; contributions in Keenan’s name would be appreciated.
