Lena Rose Tomei

Lena R Tomei peacefully joined our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Nov 7, 2013. Lena was born in Bugnara, Italy to Antonio "Tony" DeRamo and Maria “Neva” Di Tommaso on Nov 18, 1920. She came to America in 1922 and grew up in Davenport, IA. She graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1939 and worked at Ralston Purina Co. for 9 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Frank J. Tomei. She is survived by three sons: Anthony (Cindy) Tomei, Ted (Vickie)Tomei , Paul (Rosemary) Tomei ; grandchildren Gabrielle Tomei, Rachel Tomei, Andrea (Robert) Reilly, Joshua (Heather) Tomei, Michael Tomei, Robert (Alyssa) Tomei, Julianne (Chuck) Coleman, Kristyna Tomei; great grandchildren; Meghan Reilly, Logan Reilly, Andrew Reilly, Hannah Rose Tomei. Lena was a lifetime member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha philanthropic sorority - Beta Gamma Mesa Chapter; a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church Choir. Lena moved to Mesa, AZ in 1985. Lena loved people, music, genealogy and traveling. Lena will be remembered as a very loving and kind wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Visitation will be Sunday, November 10 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Melchers Mission Chapel, 6625 East Main St. Mesa. Catholic Mass will be Monday, November 11 at 10:00 am at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1244 S. Power Rd. Mesa. Burial will be Tuesday, November 12 at 11:00 am at Mesa City Cemetery.
