Born in Krum Tx on 06/25/1944 to parents “Buddy” and Imogene Gentsch, Lewis went on to graduate from Arlington High School where he met the love of his life, Janis Marie Leath.
Lewis and Janis married July 6, 1963 at Fielder Road Baptist Church, where they remained members until moving to Arizona in 2018. Upon arriving in Mesa, they quickly became active members of Light in the Desert Baptist Church.
Lewis is survived by his loving wife Janis, Sister Judy Germany, Stepbrothers: Curtis, Mike, Paul, John Wolfe & their families, Daughter: Deborah Benge and husband Phillip, Son: Bill Gentsch and wife Michelle, Grandchildren: Nathaniel and wife Rachael, Marcus, Brandon, and Lexie, Great-grandchildren: Kellen, Idalia, and Elias.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Little Elm Area Foodbank (leafb.org), a family endeavor started by Lewis’s bonus-mom Pearl Wolfe Gentsch.
