Born May 24, 1930, to Lorenzo and Cecilia Vico in Englewood, New Jersey where she graduated from St. Cecilia's High School in 1949 and went on to work in the school’s office until her marriage in 1953 to her beloved husband Joseph Sgro (2001). Lucille and Joseph raised their four children, Mary Anne, Lisa, Mark, and Michael in Norwood New Jersey for some twenty years, and eventually retired to Toms River, NJ, then Sun Lakes AZ.
Lucille is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Anne and Tom Caterina, her son Mark, and her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Lynne, her five grandchildren: Guy McPartland, Joshua Sgro, Lauren Melichar, Joseph Caterina, and Alyssa Sgro, her eight great-grandchildren, and many other family members and good friends.
Lucille, affectionately known as “Grammy” and “Aunt Lucille”, greatest joys were being around her family interacting with the children, always teaching a lesson or two. She was an avid hobbyist, knitting, crocheting and cooking. Always the busy bee, she loved her novels, crossword puzzles, and a good card game. A devote Catholic, Lucille sang in the church choir and spent endless hours knitting clothing for family, friends, and charitable causes. Her faith, wisdom and above all, her kindness, were her virtues.
Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family and friends. We ask that you remember her for the way she lived her life and how she touched each one of us with her kindness and empathy.
Rest in peace Lucia
