Linda, or Lynn as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, was born in Kansas City, Missouri in June of 1946, and was the only child of William and Lottie Bloodworth. Growing up, Lynn loved music, animals, playing canasta, cooking, and oh, did she love to dance. She frequently left her high school classes early so she could go dance at the VFW hall, where she enjoyed “Tom Collins” drinks. Lynn also loved dressing up, riding the bus into town, and going shopping. Lynn embraced being a lady and was very particular about her make-up and constantly played with her hair. So much so that she quit high school in her 10th year to attend cosmetology school. Lynn lived in Germany for a time, and always spoke fondly of the people she met there. After she returned to the states, she and her mother moved to California. As Lynn grew into adulthood, she gave her life to Jesus, and was forever changed. She spent her life ministering to everyone she came in contact with. Working with the Assembly of God church, Lynn worked as a counselor at a drug rehabilitation center and she and her husband spent many years touching the lives of those living on the street in southern California. After her divorce, she continued her ministry in other areas: counseling rape victims, troubled teens and unwed mothers. Through these times, Lynn supported her family as a hairdresser and by working at Motel 6. She enjoyed her work, and touched hundreds of lives of the people who stayed there. She joyfully told stories of the numerous “regulars” that continuously returned to “her” motel, just to be able to visit with her again. Over these years and the years that followed Lynn opened her heart and her home to those who were troubled and in need. Lynn’s life focused on service to God and was centered on her family. Her desire to be with family and selflessly care for them took her from California to Arizona and to Idaho where she fell in love with her soulmate. They became engaged but soon after, her family needed her, and she moved to Arizona for the final time. Although Lynn and Bill never married, they remained committed to each other and spent hundreds of hours on the phone, sharing their lives and were an integral part of each other until the end. Lynn spent most of her life plagued by many health issues but her faith allowed her to remain strong. Through it all, she continued to minister to others. She gracefully fought a valiant battle, and her love for God and the love of her family sustained her until Jesus took her home. It must be said that Lynn loved to laugh. She spent many hours drinking coffee, playing cards and laughing with family and friends, sometimes into the wee hours of the morning. Lynn is best described as a godly woman who was thoughtful, compassionate, caring, loving, generous, and fun. Lynn was fiercely loved. Those who knew her will be forever blessed by memories of her, and includes: her soulmate and fiancé William Poppleton, her daughter Rebecca (John) O’Reilly; son Daniel (Tina) Proctor; grandchildren Tim, Ashley, and Brandy O’Reilly; Rylee, Kaylee, Daniel, Christina, and Bradley Proctor; sisters of the heart (Mary) Francesca Nelson Gregg and Suzy (Johnny) Laidlaw; Niece Shelly Laidlaw; Nephews Jerome and Josh Nelson and Andy Laidlaw; and her always faithful canine companion, her boy “Issac”. She is welcomed into eternity by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her parents and her son Timothy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Lynn’s name to K-LOVE Radio.
