Marcus Jermaine Tharpe

On Friday, July 20, 2012, God needed another angel to watch out over us and he selected Marcus. Marcus was a devoted son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle and dear friend to all.

Marcus was born on May 22, 1982 at Travis AFB, Fairfield California to Stanley Tharpe and Pamela Mukes. Marcus professed his faith to God at an early age and spent numerous hours in various groups within the church. Marcus attended his early school year in the Los Angeles area while finishing high school at Chandler High, Chandler AZ. Marcus previously attended classes at Arizona State in Tempe AZ and was attending Hennepin Community College in Brooklyn Park MN prior to his death.

Aside from his love of family and friends Marcus truly enjoyed music and specifically performing with his local group the Untouchables and working as a DJ at various places here in the Phoenix area. Marcus’ ability to entertain and grab the attention of all came at an early age and transcended into his love for music. Marcus’ friends often spoke of his infectious smile and caring disposition.

Marcus is survived by his mother Pamela Mukes (Barney) Carter of Maple Grove MN, his father Stanley (Wanda) Tharpe of Chandler, one brother Barney Carter of Maple Grove and four sisters, Angelle Tharpe of Dallas TX, Hayley and Fallon Tharpe of Chandler and Lucinda Carter of Maple Grove, niece Skylar White of Dallas, grandparents James and Johnnie Mae Stokes of Long Beach CA and Martha Tharpe of Murray KY, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and many devoted friends. His grandfathers Stanley Tharpe SR and Manuel Mukes and aunt Danielle Mukes preceded him in death.
