

Marguerite Jane Hughes passed away on June 10, 2013 in Mesa, Arizona. Born in Detroit, Michigan to James and Dora (nee Jones) MacMunn, Marguerite arrived on December 20, 1919. Growing up Marguerite excelled at Scottish dancing. When she was 8 years old, she competed in the Highland Fling and took home a blue ribbon. Years later, her granddaughter wore the same outfit that Marguerite wore to her school parade. She met the love of her life, Frank Thomas “Tom” Hughes in Detroit. The couple married on June 25, 1941. They adored each other, and spent their married years enjoying each other’s company. Tom passed away in 1968. Not being a follower, Marguerite lived her life to the fullest, and was loyal to a fault. A true lady, Marguerite exemplified what a caring Christian should be. Always looking after those in need, Marguerite enjoyed being of service. She was a proud member of Central Christian Church. She spent her working years as a seamstress for Rosemarie Bathing Suit Company, a position she truly enjoyed. While her son was in school, he had a particular fondness for a special shirt design, Marguerite made all of his shirts. Later in life, she took a position with the Baxter Laboratory, in the Hemophil department until she was 62. After retiring, she spent her free time with a dear friend, Mabel Weiss. Together they traveled, particularly enjoying their visits to Canada. Family was of the utmost importance to Marguerite. She adored her son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was so proud that her grandchildren always made time to give her hugs and kisses. She is survived by her son, Tom and his wife Wanda, grandchildren Shari (Rick) Flowers and Tom R. “TR” Hughes, great grandchildren London Hughes, Linnea Hughes, Justin Flowers, and Nick Flowers, and a great-great granddaughter Kadence who is currently on the way.
