Marissa was born on March 26, 1993 in Fayetteville, AR to Jeff and Kellye. She was taking her final college course requirements to enlist in the Navy.
After moving to Mesa, Marissa went to school where she met many of her friends and became interested in art. Her talent flourished with the drawing classes she took and with help of her friends with a similar passion. Marissa was the type of girl who could get anyone to laugh with her sense of humor which led her to have a great group of people by her side- some of which continued on with her until she passed. She went on through high school until diverging from the public school system to get her GED and early college credits.
When not at school she could be found researching or caring for her pets. Such as her sugar gliders, of which she had 3, her ferrets, her dogs (especially Ozzy), her cat Matrix, as well as the many kitty-fosters. She also loved to draw and take photos. Marissa always had some kind of work in progress, whether it was a set of photos she’d taken of her pets or drawings for those who had commissioned her for her work. She was very talented in digital painting and created beautiful pieces.
During her adult years Marissa participated in a number of things. Such as Flyball with Ozzy on the Arizona Supercharged team. With Arizona Supercharged she travelled to multiple states for tournaments and her Pomeranian proceeded to become the fastest Pomeranian in the world with her dedication and training. Marissa had recently become part of the Phoenix Furry Community and had been making fur-suits with her mother and going to multiple meet-ups to find others who loved animals and their fur-sonas as much as she did. While she was new to the community she was easily loved and made many friends.
Marissa’s love of animals often made her the go-to person on pet advice and care. If you had a question- whether it was on food, training, or which pet store to go to- she had an answer. She was a dedicated individual who loved her pets and who was passionate about caring for animals in need. With her family and Catado, she dedicated her home and time to the cat-fosters that lived with them temporarily while they waited for other loving families to give them a stable home.
A funeral and graveside ceremony is scheduled for 4:00 PM at Mariposa Gardens, 400 S Power Rd, Mesa, AZ 85206. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Marissa's life.
