Mark Herbert Schumann

Mark Schumann of Gold Canyon, AZ, passed away surrounded by loving family members on July 31, 2026, at age of 69. Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Loretta Schumann; his siblings, Richard Schumann (Treacy) and Laura Schumann (Dan Pol); his daughters, Heather Schumann and Amanda Wolfe (Zachary); his step-sons, Jeff Stanek and David Stanek (Jeannie); and his cherished grandchildren: Mia Schumann-Santiago, Brandon Wolfe, Maverick Wolfe, Ruby Stanek, Jade Stanek, Cole Stanek, Marcel Jefferson, Cathy Nelson, Tabatha Nelson, and Raphael Stanek.

Mark was born in Staten Island, NY, on December 22, 1956, son of the late Herbert and Frances Schumann. He was raised in Rumson, NJ, graduated from Rumson Fair Haven Regional High School, and served in the NJ National Guard for 15 years. Mark eventually moved to Arizona, where he worked for a combined 37 years in aerospace with Bendix, Allied Signal, and Honeywell.

Mark had a love for outdoor activities and sports. He passionately cheered for his New York Yankees, along with his brother, Rick. An avid skier, Mark treasured meeting his father in Park City, Utah, for an annual ski trip. Mark also loved the game of golf, so much that - even into retirement - he worked part-time at the Gold Canyon Golf Resort to remain connected to the course and community.

But what everyone who knew him will remember most about Mark was his fun-loving sense of humor and his ability to make you laugh, as he did even in his last days. He had an innate ability to find the positive in every person and a knack for making everyone around him feel genuinely welcomed, accepted, and comfortable. He loved his family and friends fiercely, and we loved him back.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 400 South Power Road, Mesa, AZ 85206, US, on August 28, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mark's honor to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
