Mother left us on May 26,2026 to reunite with all her loved ones who were anxiously awaiting her arrival. She lived a long life filled with love of God, family and friends. Martha was born November 7, 1931, in her grandmother’s home in El Paso, Texas. She had a happy childhood living with her grandmother on her farm and being her special helper. In 1941 the family moved to Phoenix where she graduated from North High School. She married John H. Frary on August 5, 1951. They were the parents of five children, so life was never boring.
Martha was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held many callings in the different organizations. She spent many years teaching in the Relief Society, Young Women’s and Primary. Her favorite calling was when she was asked to tell a monthly story from the children’s magazine called the Friend. As such, she was called Sister Friendly. The young children sat perfectly still as she would share her stories with them.
Martha lived a life of service. During her lifetime she blessed the lives of countless people with her simple acts of kindness. She was a caregiver for family members and friends alike. For several years she had a home for the elderly where gave loving care to many special people who became like family to her. She always loved to find ways to serve. Her great grandchildren remember assembling homeless kits. Her grandchildren remember all the years that we would do Secret Santa for needy families.
Mother loved her family most of all. She attended all her grandchildren and later great grandchildren’s concerts, plays, sporting events, Primary programs, graduations, Missionary farewells and homecomings. She loved to have them visit and always made each person feel special. She was very generous, and the children will always remember all that Grammy shared with them. She is proceeded in death by her husband, John, daughter Lydia and son John Jr. She is survived by daughters Julie(Bob) Phillips, Cindy Taylor, and son Greg, grandchildren Clark(Kelsey) Phillips, Daniel(Robin) Phillips, Cody(Amber) Phillips, Elizabeth Phillips, Kali Benedict, and great grandchildren Aiden, Logan, Lydia, Chandler, Aubrey, Jack, Emery, Audrey, Tate, Bobby, Carly and Barratt.
While our hearts are broken at her loss, we rejoice to know we will see her again. In the meantime we will always hold her memory in our hearts.
