

Marvin A. Kotter, 93, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2013 at his home of 22 years in Fountain of the Sun, Mesa, AZ. He was born September 19, 1919 in Metropolis, Massac County, Illinois to Grover H. Kotter and Hazel Marie Anderson Kotter. He was 4th born of six siblings.
Marvin grew up in Selma, CA and graduated from Selma High School in 1936. In December 1941, at the age of 22, he was inducted into the U.S. Army, serving throughout WWII in the Philippines. At that time, he was the youngest Warrant Officer ever appointed to the U.S. Army.
During 1950 - 1953 he was with the 51st Fighter Wing of the U.S. Air Force at Naha Air Base, Okinawa and deployed to Seoul, Korea during the Korean Conflict. In the early sixties, Marvin was stationed at Mildenhall Air Base, UK. From there, he went to the 9th Air Force at Shaw AFB, SC in the Inspector General’s Office, followed by an assignment at Richards-Gebaur AFB, KS. As a Lt. Col., Marvin served on the U.N. Command Military Armistice Affairs Division in 1970-1971. He was active in the North and South Korean Armistice negotiations. Marvin retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1972 with 31 years of military service.
Marvin was preceded in death by his wife of 19 years, Evelyn Ginger Kotter in 2010; Marvin’s first wife, Hildur Josephine Christensen Kotter in 1983; his second wife, Lynne Meekins Kotter in 1990; his daughter, Donna Marie Storms (Kotter) in 2004; his sisters Elizabeth, Virginia and Doris; his brothers Laurence and Harold.
Marvin is survived by his son, Steven Kotter of Dale, TX; Granddaughters Lisa (Storms) Thomson and family of Huntington Beach, CA, Karen (Storms) Kuhn and family of Torrance, CA, Heather Kotter of Austin, TX and, Marie Kotter of Austin, TX; Great Granddaughter Kaitlynn Thomson and; Great Grandson Brandon Kuhn.
