Mary Ellen Kasowski

Born Mary Ellen Bergstrand, June 24, 1925 to Lillian (Becker) and John (H.W.) Bergstrand in Valley City, N.D. She moved around with her parents through ND and Moorhead, MN due to her father’s employment with the railroad. She was the oldest of eight children.

She graduated from Valley City High School in 1944, then graduated from a two-year teaching program from Valley City Community Teachers College.

While teaching in Buffalo, ND, she met her husband, Earl Kasowski and married him June 15, 1948 and farmed in the Cass County area. She and Earl farmed in Buffalo Township since 1962 and retired in 1991, at which time they became winter visitors in Mesa, AZ. After Earl passed away in 2007, she spent the summers in ND with her son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Doris and spent winters in AZ, where she moved in with her daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and Rocky, and passed away in their home September 1, 2015.

Funeral Mass Services will be held on September 12, 2015, 10:00 am at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Buffalo, North Dakota.
