

Melvin (Mel) Dudley Peak passed away in Mesa, Arizona on April 16, 2013. Born in Columbia, Missouri to Dudley and Mattie (nee Melvin) Peak, Mel arrived on December 28, 1932. Growing up in Michigan, Mel graduated from East Detroit High School in 1952. Proudly serving his country, he enlisted in the Army during the Korean War. He married Marie, and they spent their years together adoring each other. There wasn’t a person that Mel met that he didn’t consider a friend, and he loved those he met. Hard working was a value that Mel lived by. Mel is survived by his loving wife, Marie, daughter Glenda (Lawrence) Leach, and son Matthew (Lori) Peak, granddaughter Megan Peak, sister Sarah (Walter) Fuelberth, numerous nieces and nephews, Marie’s children Sandy, Joseph, James, Laura, and Richard, their respective spouses and children. Preceding him in are his first wife, Gail Marie Peak, parents Dudley and Mattie Peak, brothers James, Samuel, and Richard, and sisters Dorothy and Ruth. A private memorial will follow at a later date in both Arizona and Michigan. The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the American Lung Association in Mel’s memory.
