Over the past several years Mim, Lindy and I would enjoy an occasional dinner in the main dining room at Pueblo Norte. It was one of Mim’s favorite.  Two elements of every meal were always a constant.  First, each meal began with watermelon. It is well known that Pueblo Norte had the very best watermelon. Second, every meal was finished with vanilla ice cream. Timing for delivery of these delicacies was critical. Watermelon was successfully accomplished because it was first entrée and generally Lindy would serve within minutes of seating Mim at the table.  Serving the ice cream however was relegated to me and generally I did a good job except when I would serve her ice cream too soon. You see ice cream served too soon melts and soupy ice cream was not Mim’s favorite.  During one such dinner my timing was a bit off and the ice cream was sitting way too long before Mim was finished with her meal. Mim just looked at bowl and wanted to know what it was. I told her it was her desert. She just looked away and said she wanted a new bowl, something with more body. I had just been “iced” by a 90 year old and I knew it.  I apologized for the faux pas and excused myself to fetch a better serving.  Mim  had very high standards and it was clear I violated the one for ice cream.  I returned with a proper serving and garnished it with her favorite cookie. The cookie pleased her and after the first bite all was forgiven and I can honestly say I never made that mistake ever again.  Love you Mim, Your the best.  Jimmy

Just to clarify: Sandy was born in 1946 ,  David coauthored an Article on Infant Botulism . He still vividly remembers talking to the CDC who informed him of his findings, AND David and I and families were in Carlsbad, California while Mom had her knee replacement. The typos are my fault since I wrote the biography. WOW MOM!!! You were a hard act to follow. You always told us you were small but MIGHTY.   You also told us. “You applied for the job and you got it! “ .  


To all Mims children, family and friends,
I was encouraged by your mom to do my best especially in the gift she had in caring for others. I will be eternally grateful for the opportunity to have known her. She will remain in my memories as she was, a beautiful, strong, and smart woman. Your mom lived a dynamic and meaningful life in the many years with my father Jim.   
I'll miss her.
