Mitchell (Mitch) Charles Robertson was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on January 24, 1949, to Charles Eugene and Joyce Elizabeth (Nolan) Robertson. He had three sisters, Valerie, Melanie and Paula. Mitch attended Oshkosh High School where he met his future wife. His life would be forever changed.
Leni Louise Ruch, a fellow classmate, had a crush on Mitch. She would say “hi” to him in the hallways, always with a big smile. Finally, Mitch asked his friends “Who is she?”. The two were meant to be, they married July 12, 1969. Leni commented after Mitch passed, “He loved me so much. Mitch took such good care of us, and I loved his blue eyes!” Mitch passed on May 18, 2025 at home with his loving wife Leni by his side. They were married 55 years.
Mitch and Leni then moved to Arizona where Mitch served in the Air Force and was stationed at Davis–Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona
, then transferred to Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix, Arizona, where he was a Staff sergeant (SSGT) Flight Engineer. He studied engineering though the Air Force until he discharged in 1972. Living in Phoenix, Mitch worked for Schlumberger (SLB), a global multinational oilfield services company providing technology and services for the oil and gas industry, as an applications engineer. When Mitch retired, he worked at a small golf course in Mesa, Arizona. He often said it took him to retire to find his favorite job!
In 1975, Mitch and Leni had their only child, Michelle Elizabeth. She is very close to her Mom, but was definitely a Daddy’s girl. Mitch traveled often for business and always brought back shampoo bottles and hotel giveaways for his daughter. He taught her how to drive, how to fix things, how to manage math and was always incredibly supportive. When Michelle had her son, Daulton Charles in 2000, Mitch’s grandson became his center of attention. Mitch was always supportive of his daughter and grandson; physically, spiritually and financially. Michelle says that, “My daddy is my rock!”. When Daulton had his children, Mitch adored his great-grandchildren, Olivia Rose born in 2019 and Noah Mitchell born in 2023. He was always there for his family and was known to all for his kindness.
Mitch and Leni liked to travel. They were fortunate enough to live in Costa Rica for a year, while Mitch was on assignment for Intel, where he made many life-long friends. He loved to watch cooking shows and enjoyed grilling. Mitch also relished building Lego kits with his grandson, Daulton. One of Mitch’s favorite past times was playing cribbage with his best friend. But nothing surpassed his passion for candy! He had small candy dishes everywhere, M&M candies were his favorite, but anything chocolate would do. The last five years of his life he suffered from debilitating kidney failure. Leni became his constant caregiver and Michelle provided emotional support. His last words to Michelle were “I love you,” a testament to his dedication and passion for his family and friends.
Mitch was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Joyce Robertson. He is survived by his loving wife Leni (Ruch) Robertson and daughter Michelle (Robertson) McManis; his grandson, Daulton Charles McManis and two great-grandchildren, Olivia Rose McManis and Noah Mitchell McManis. He is also survived by all three of his siblings; Valerie (Robertson) Goehler: Melanie (Robertson) Bloechl: and Paula (Robertson) Davis.
