Born on April 22, 1940, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Charles Edward Platt and Nina Marie Parry. Norma grew up surrounded by a loving family. She graduated from Granite High School in Salt Lake and soon after met the love of her life, William D. Cummins. The two were married on June 20, 1958, in Salt Lake City, and embarked on a beautiful journey together.
In 1959, Norma and William moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where they built a life filled with love, hard work, and family. Norma began her career as a retail clerk at JJ Newberry's, but her favorite job was working for Arizona Highways Magazine, where she made lifelong friends and took great pride in her work. She later joined her husband at Motorola, where she worked alongside him for 22 years until their retirement.
Norma had a passion for sewing, scrapbooking, and watching Hallmark movies—simple joys that reflected her warmth and creativity. She was also an early and enthusiastic user of Facebook, using it as a way to stay closely connected with her extended family. Her real delight, however, came from the companionship of her two beloved dachshunds, Heidi and Penny, who were always by her side.
Above all, Norma was a devoted mother to her son Kristen and daughter Kimberley, and a proud grandmother to Ashley, Mykeala, Cameron, and Hayden. Her love extended across generations, blessing her with 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband William, her parents Charles and Nina, her twin brother Norman, sisters Gail and Carol, and her granddaughter Kourtney. She is survived by her brother James, sister Lynette, her children Kimberley and Kristen, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild who will carry her legacy forward.
Norma's life will be celebrated on August 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 925 North Harris, Mesa, AZ 85203. All who knew and loved Norma are welcome to join in honoring a life well-lived.
She will be remembered for her unwavering love for family, her gentle spirit, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her.
