Gannon, Pamela Kay, 54, passed away peacefully at home with friends and family on February 22, 2015, in Gilbert, AZ after fighting a brave, three-year battle against breast cancer. Pam was born on April 9, 1960 in Detroit, MI to Philip and Betty (Haltom) Gannon. She enjoyed Drama Club at Redford Union High School, graduating in 1978. After earning a BS at Michigan State University, she earned her Master’s at Wayne State University. Pam enjoyed her work as an Archivist contracted to GM and later as a Research Librarian connected to the Medical School/Library at Wayne State University. She loved her home state and was a Motown Girl to the core. For many years she delighted in volunteering with Preservation Wayne, working to preserve the architectural and cultural landmarks of Detroit, eventually serving on the Board of Directors. Pam also volunteered at the Detroit Institute of Arts. After moving to Arizona to help care for her mother, she made frequent trips back and was encouraged in the last year to see the city she loved regaining its identity by rehabilitating so many of its iconic architectural treasures. Pam had a lifelong love of all animals. She always had a place in her heart for lost and neglected creatures. After her diagnosis, she realized a lifelong dream by rescuing her pup, Pippa. She loved faithfully, defended fiercely and always tried to find the best in everyone. Pam is survived by her mother, Betty; sisters Pat (Randy) Hasty of Gilbert, AZ and Sue (James) Rushcamp of Jenison, MI; nieces and nephews Kelly (Steven) Rushcamp Vruggink, Eli and Eden Vruggink, Katie Rushcamp, Stephen, David and Emily Hasty. Services will be held 11:30 Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Mariposa Gardens Chapel, 400 S. Power Rd. Mesa, AZ with burial in Glen Eden Cemetery, Livonia, MI.
