Pam spent most of her childhood in Tacoma, WA, attending both public and private schools, graduating from Mount Tahoma High School in 1966.
Pam always had a brave, courageous and gentle spirit. After graduation she moved to Sacramento, CA and worked for the local military base. Pam later moved back to WA where she worked for the State Department of Corrections for 10 years. Her adventurous spirit also called her to move to Fairbanks, Alaska for a few years, back to western WA, then eastern WA, and eventually to Arizona.
Pam always had a great love for children, reflected in her choice of college studies and occupations. She received her degree in early childhood education from Pierce College in Lakewood, WA, working in that industry for a time, and as a school crossing guard, but found her calling as a school bus driver for over 18 years, before retiring. Pam never had children of her own, but proudly referred to her bus students as her “kids”. She took her job very seriously assuring the safe transport and utmost care for her students.
Pam was an avid reader and enjoyed Sudoku, crossword puzzles, attending model train shows and conventions with her husband, RV camping and snuggling with her dogs.
Pam was preceded in death by her mother Billie O. Bower, and her stepfather, Robert J. Bower. She is survived by her husband Richard Nedrow, stepsons Michael and Richard Nedrow, and stepdaughter Shalayne Nedrow, and several step grandchildren, sister Kimberly Hladecek, brothers in law and sisters in law, Thomas Hladecek, Don and Carol Nedrow, Gene and Linda Nedrow and Sandra Bulkley, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She will be laid to rest in Pasco, WA. A memorial in her honor will be planned for a later date in Pasco. However, a mass dedicated to her and her family will be celebrated at Holy Disciples Catholic Church in Puyallup, WA at 9 AM on March 21st, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the children’s charity of your choice in Pam’s name.
