Parmila Anwar Shaw

Parmila Anwar Shaw, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024, in Mesa, Arizona, surrounded by her loving family. At 84, she leaves a legacy of love, faith, and unwavering dedication that will inspire all who knew her.

Born on November 1, 1939, in Youngsonabad, Punjab, Pakistan, Parmila was the fifth of seven siblings. She grew up with four sisters and two younger brothers and completed her education in Clarkabad. On December 29, 1958, she married Anwar Shaw, beginning a 62-year journey of love and commitment. Together, they built a life rooted in faith and devotion to family and community.

In the 2000s, Parmila moved to the United States to live with her daughter, Ghazala, where she witnessed the growth of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As a central figure, she offered wisdom, support, and love, creating a home filled with warmth and laughter.

A dedicated member of the Church of Pakistan and later the United Indo-Pak Church, Parmila served her community with faith and compassion, embodying humility and generosity. She will be remembered for her strength, grace, and profound spirituality.

Survived by: Parmila is survived by her children Ghazala Mushtaq (husband Mushtaq Khalid), daughter-in-law Shareen Shaw (wife of the late Nadeem Shaw); Shazia Anthony (husband Robert Anthony), and Waseem Shaw; grandchildren and great-grandchildren Raza Mushtaq and Zara Gill with their children Hannah, Jeremiah, and Zachariah Gill; Faryal Mushtaq; Nauman Shaw and Sarah Shaw with their child Jairus Adriel Shaw; Shumaila Shaw; Sheral Shaw; Solomon Anthony; Michelle Anthony; Mayra Anthony; Zachary Shaw; and Luke Shaw; as well as her younger brother, Masood-Ul-Haq.

Predeceased by: Parmila was predeceased by her son Nadeem Shaw; husband Anwar Shaw; and daughter-in-law Sadaf Shaw (wife of Waseem Shaw).

Pallbearers will be Mushtaq Khalid, Robert Anthony, Waseem Shaw, Raza Mushtaq, Nauman Shaw, Solomon Anthony, Zachary Shaw, and Luke Shaw.

A visitation will take place at King Glory Lutheran Church, 2085 E Southern Ave, Tempe, on October 19, 2024, from 9:30 to 11:00 AM. A funeral prayer service will follow from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and burial will occur at 1:00 PM at Valley of the Sun Mortuary and Cemetery, 10940 E Chandler Heights Rd, AZ.
